The Montblanc in the Montblanc group (Italian Monte Bianco) is the highest mountain of the alps and Europe. The 4,808 m high summits is situated in the Département strike Savoie in France. The entire Montblanc massif belongs to the Savoyer alps. From the summit to a height of 2,440 m its slopes are covered with an ice cap, which is thick over 23 m. It possesses several glaciers, under it the Mer de Glace at the north slope. The Montblanc was mounted for the first time 1786.
